Maya Attoun's rope composition pieces suggest the human body as their scale, and more specifically the feminine body. Her sculptures outline the space around the body through the use of domestic materials. Day-to-day maintenance of the body, the household and of relationships penetrate the works in a way that makes them appear as three-dimensional vignettes of life. Maya's pieces operate on an allegorical and concrete level. Her compositions are both controlled and free-formed. They create an undetermined tension with the viewer who is unable to untie the knots.
